About the Press

Provender Press is an independent publisher based in Oregon's Willamette Valley.

A world without books would be a world without joy. Books inform, delight, entertain, and educate. One of the most important things we do as humans is tell stories, because stories change lives, minds, and cultures.

Provender Press grew out of a lifelong love of books. Honestly, it was inevitable. The goal is simple: publish the books you want to keep. You know the ones. The ones on the special shelf. The ones you've moved through four apartments and can't give away because getting rid of them is unthinkable. That’s the bar.

Our sincere hope is that the books we publish will meet that bar and reflect our deep and abiding belief in the power of our shared experience as one human family in which all members are inherently noble, precious, and true.

The press publishes both fiction and nonfiction, modern and classic, with a focus on editorial excellence, thoughtful design, and strong author partnerships.

And snacks.

About the Publisher

They say Angela Grace Morgan was born with a book in her hand, and she hasn't stopped reading since. By nightlight when required. Cereal boxes when she's desperate. She collects old books, good friends, golden hours, and exceptional stories, especially ones with a little magic, a little humor, and a little love.

She is a published author, award-winning screenwriter, and insightful editor. She has worked as a reader (yes, professionally), graphic designer, creative director, UI designer, indie music promoter, technical writer, bookseller, and publisher, with employers such as Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, The White House, and wine.com. She holds a B.S. in Computer Science from Oregon State University and has founded multiple companies across three decades. She has high standards. Don't worry. She's nice about it.

In addition to being a Publisher, she is a part-time letter writer and full-time book hoarder. She is based in McMinnville, Oregon, which is a perfect small(ish) town.

Notes from the Inbox is a Substack newsletter from Founder and Publisher Angela Grace Morgan.

She says:

I get a lot of email. Some of it is good. Some of it is great. Some of it makes me laugh, which is always a plus.

Some of it makes me want to throw the email across the room.

Most of it has questions, and I really like helping people, so I try to answer everyone’s questions. My Dad had infinite patience for my 4,027,036 daily questions, and I honor him by answering as many as I ask.

So, after a handful of years of being told by a raft of people that I should be on Substack, I decided to listen.

I will be answering questions (about publishing), musing on my thoughts (about publishing), and sharing my point of view (about publishing and books in general). There will be pointed opinions, well-intended advice, heartfelt encouragement, occasional navel-gazing, and probably-only-funny-to-me jokes.

If that sounds good to you, then you are in the right place. Start here.
